100 Meter Dash
Winfield's Allie Germann once again got out well and was never really challenged in taking the win in 12.54. Oak Glen's Kamela Ward was strong throughout for 2nd in 12.69. North Marion's Abby Masters closed well for 3rd in 12.75. Fairmont Senior's Gracie Lamb joined them under 13 seconds at 12.94 for 4th. 200 Meter Dash
Oak Glen's Kamela Ward accelerated out of the turn to move into the lead and pull away for the win in a strong 26.03. Winfield's Allie Germann led out of the turn and easily held the 2nd spot in 26.50. North Marion's Abby Masters again closes well to take 3rd in 26.81. Lewis' Biance Jamen joined them under 27 seconds with a 26.93 for 4th. Frankfort's Halley Smith snagged the 5th spot in 27.88 with Weir's Elena Mastrantoni taking 6th in 28.20.
RunWV's Current Score: 9 of 12.

400 Meter Dash
This one was a bit odd with the winner being disqualified for a lane violation. It wasn't one of those questionable 3 steps on the line issues. Oak Glen's Kamela Ward was completely in Winfield's Allie Germann's lane coming out of the turn, to the extent that the two nearly made contact before Ward righted the ship. It spoiled a great race by Ward. Germann claimed the win in an excellent 59.02. Only Philip Barbour's Emily Denison was able to join her under 60 seconds at 59.70 with no one else under 61. Winfield's Emma Pendleberry claims 3rd in 1:01.46. Frankfort's Halley Smith powered down the stretch to win the 1st Heat and take 4th overall in 1:01.63. North Marion's Trinity Hine was 5th in 1:01.74 with Berkeley Springs' Lydia Fincham 6th in 1:02.20. I have to give myself a little credit here. I only got 4 of the 6, but one was a DQ and the other scratched the event, and my 7th place pick did pick up one of those spots.
RunWV's Current Score: 13 of 18.

800 Meter Run
Liberty Harrison's Destiny Berryman led the field through the first lap in 1:10, trailed closely by Winfield's Mariam Al-Zoubi also at 1:10. At 1:11, holding the next spots were Nicholas' Natalie Barr in 3rd, Grafton's Emily Viani in 4th, Winfield's Rachael Withrow in 5th, and either Wayne's Emily Williamson or Weir's Naomi Young in the 6th spot, with the other in 7th. Barr moved to the lead with about 200 meters to go and really generated a gap with about 150 to go, and held that gap to the end, winning in 2:22.37. Berryman fended off the late close of Withrow for 2nd, 2:24.51 to 2:24.84. Viani was close behind in 4th at 2:25.22. Al-Zoubi held the 5th spot in 2:26.32. Young used a strong close to easily take the 6th position in 2:26.84.
RunWV's Current Score: 19 of 24.

1600 Meter Run
Liberty Harrison's Destiny Berryman led the field through the 1st lap in a quick 1:10. Winfield's Rachael Withrow was in 2nd at 1:11 with teammate Mariam Al-Zoubi in 3rd at 1:12. That time was matched by Wayne's Emily Williamson in 4th. Nitro's Nicole Donato was in 5th at 1:13. Fairmont Senior's Lydia Falkenstein was in 6th at 1:14. At the end of lap 2, it was still Berryman in the lead at 2:29, just ahead of Withrow, also at 2:29. Williamson had moved into 3rd with Al-Zoubi in 4th, Falkenstein in 5th, and Donato in 6th. On the 3rd lap, Withrow makes the pass on the inside at around the 200 mark and leads through the lap. Berryman remained in 2nd. Williamson was still in 3rd with Al-Zoubi still in 4th, and Falkenstein in 5th. I think Oak Glen's Sophia Arner had moved into 6th. On the final lap, Withrow pulled away to take the win in 5:15.62 with Berryman easily holding the 2nd spot in 5:20.95. Williamson held off the late push of Falkenstein for the 3rd spot with Williamson at 5:26.53 and Falkenstein at 5:28.55. Al-Zoubi held the 5th spot in 5:31.18 with Arner taking 6th in 5:36.42.
RunWV's Current Score: 25 of 30.

3200 Meter Run
Winfield's Rachael Withrow went out hard and took the first lap in 1:13. Fairmont Senior's Lydia Falkenstein was in 2nd. Wayne's Emily Williamson was in 3rd, and I believe it was North Marion's Taylor Hess was in 4th. After 2 laps, Withrow was well in front. Falkenstein remained in 2nd with Williamson and Hess remaining in 3rd and 4th, respectively. I'm not sure who it was in 5th, but I think Frankfort's Addison Lease was in 6th. At the end of 3 laps, it was Withrow in command. Falkenstein and Williamson were still 2nd and 3rd. Lease had moved into 4th with Hess in 5th and Scott's Jalyn Browning in 6th. At the midway point, Withrow remained in control, coming through in 5:29. Falkenstein, Williamson, lease, Hess, and Browning continued to hold their spots. After 5 laps, there had been a small shift. Withrow still led at 6:56, and Falkenstein was still in 2nd. Hess had moved up to 3rd with Lease in 4th, Williamson in 5th, and Browning in 6th. At 6 laps, Withrow was through in 8:25 with Falkenstein in 2nd. Williamson had moved back into 3rd with Hess 4th, Lease 5th, and Browning 6th. At the bell, Withrow was still well in front at 9:53. Falkenstein was in control of 2nd. The next spots were up for grabs. Williamson was in 3rd, Hess in 4th, Lease in 5th, and Browning in 6th. On the final lap, Withrow drove it home for the big win in 11:15.66 which stands as the 3rd Best All-Time Class AA State Meet Performance. Falkenstein easily held the 2nd spot as the only other one under 12:00 with her 11:41.74. Under 4.5 seconds separated the next 4 with Williamson getting the 3rd spot in 12:06.63. Lease took the 4th spot in 12:07.58. Hess was 5th in 12:09.45, and Browning was 6th in 12:10.88.
RunWV's Current Score: 31 of 36.

100 Meter High Hurdles
Point Pleasant's Elicia Wood took over just before the halfway point and pulled away over the final 5 hurdles for the win in 15.95. Winfield's Nikki Walker got out really well and held off North Marion's Rylee Delovich for 2nd, 16.27 to 16.35. Philip Barbour's Callie Collins runs a strong 4th in 16.75. Fairmont Senior's Meredith Maier takes 5th in 17.13, and North Marion's Isabella Richards takes 6th in 17.36. One of my predicted placers fell late in her preliminary race while leading it.
RunWV's Current Score: 36 of 42.

300 Meter Low Hurdles
Winfield's Nikki Walker broke open a close race in the final 100, powering away for the convincing win in 46.81. Philip Barbour's Lydia Phillips closed really well to slip into the 2nd spot late in 48.09. North Marion's Rylee Delovich was even with Walker coming out of the turn and held the 3rd spot in 48.35. 4x100 Meter Relay
Fairmont Senior's group of Paytyn Neal, Maddie Awbrey, Marin Parker, and Gracie Lamb repeated as champions with a 51.07. The race was very close at the final exchange, and Lamb sped away from the field to give them the win. Philip Barbour used a strong anchor leg from Emily Denison to move from 4th to 2nd in 51.75. Winfield took the 3rd position in 51.90. Elkins held the 4th spot by less than 0.01 over North Marion with both officially recording at 52.17. Sissonville took the final spot in 52.92.
RunWV's Current Score: 47 of 54.

4x200 Meter Relay
The North Marion team of Trinity Hine, Cierra Parker, Rylee Delovich, and Abby Masters also repeated as champion, and in dominating fashion, taking the win by over 3 seconds in 1:45.13. That was strong enough to be the 2nd Best All-Time Class AA State Meet Performance. Fairmont Senior took the 2nd spot in 1:48.50. Winfield was 3rd in 1:49.19. Elkins joined them under 1:50 with a 1:49.91. Oak Glen was 5th in 1:52.02 with Bluefield taking 6th in 1:52.93.

4x400 Meter Relay
This was pretty close early, and it appeared that Elkins had the lead at the end of the 1st leg, trailed closely by Winfield and Liberty Harrison. I think Frankfort was in 3rd, North Marion was in 4th, and Philip Barbour was in 5th. At the end of 2 legs, it remained Elkins in front at 2:05 with North Marion in 2nd at 2:06. Winfield was in 3rd at 2:08 with Frankfort in 4th, also at 2:08. Liberty Harrison was in 5th at 2:09 with Philip Barbour in 6th at 2:10. Elkins extended their lead tremendously in the 3rd leg, coming through in 3:07. Frankfort had a slight edge over North Marion for 2nd with both at 3:15. Liberty Harrison was in 4th at 3:16. At the end, it was the Elkins foursome of Kiley Edwards, Anna Belan, Laney Fletcher, and Gracelin Corley taking the easy win by over 6 seconds in 4:11.25. North Marion took the 2nd position in 4:16.78. Frankfort held the 3rd spot in 4:18.18, holding off Philip Barbour in 5th at 4:18.86. Liberty Harrison took the 6th spot at 4:20.28.

4x800 Meter Relay
Liberty Harrison closed the first leg well, moving from 3rd to 1st in the final 40 meters, to lead the field through the first leg in 2:28. Grafton was in 2nd at 2:29. Elkins was in 3rd at 2:30. Fairmont Senior was in 4th at 2:32 with Wayne in 5th at 2:35. I think North Marion was in 6th. There were some lead changes on the 2nd leg. Elkins moved to the front at the end of the 1st lap. Liberty Harrison retook the lead with about 200 to go. Elkins took it back in the final 40 to lead through the 2nd leg at 5:07 with Liberty Harrison matching that time. Grafton was in 3rd at 5:10 with Fairmont Senior in 4th at approximately 5:12. Elkins got away on the 3rd leg, stretching the lead to 8 seconds, coming through in 7:42. Elkins was not threatened on the final leg and the unit of Kiley Edwards, Katie Collins, Anna Belan, and Samantha Sproul gave Elkins a repeat win, with 3 of those on last year's surprise winner. Maybe at some point, I'll stop underestimating them. Liberty Harrison moved back into the 2nd spot on the final leg, finishing in 10:18.36. Fairmont Senior held onto the 3rd spot in 10:23.16. Grafton got a strong leg from Emily Viani to move from 6th to 4th in 10:24.77. Oak Glen was 5th in 10:31.63, and Wayne claimed the final spot in 10:36.08.

North Marion's Cierra Parker save her best for last with a 16'7.25 jump on her final jump. She was already in the lead, but it's always good to finish with your best jump.
